In this photograph attention is drawn only to the tip of the buret (other parts of the setup are also seen such as upper left corner of the computer, the stopcock of the buret,
the upper part of the pH-electrode etc.).
Notice the small device called CaptureCap(TM) attached at the tip of the buret and the two banana plugs with leads (these leads are attached to the RS232 port of the multimeter --
not seen in the photograph). Drops of titrant fall continuously from the buret and each one drop triggers a pH
measurement and
plotting of a point on the computer screen. Thus, the whole titration curve is plotted automatically on the screen as the student watches. The only thing he or she has to do
is to carefully note the initial and the final volume of the titrant. In this way routine operations of titration are avoided and the student focuses his/her attention on
understanding the concepts.
